Want to try a Sportsmobile before you buy? Here’s an option.

Van life is one of the most up-and-coming sectors of the RV industry—for both millennials and older generations—and every week Curbed sees a new camper vancustom conversion company, or a new DIY kit for vans. But when you’re ready to buy a camper van, knowing exactly what kind of van you’d like to buy can be a difficult task. Love campers and trailers? Come join our community group.

Fortunately, a slew of new companies are offering top-notch camper van rentals, both for people who want a cool vacation and for more serious van lifers looking to try it out before they buy. We’ve rounded up camper van rentals in the past, but the latest unique offering to catch our eye is Jackson Hole-based Moterra Campervans.

Moterra Campervans specializes in renting four-wheel-drive Sportsmobile sprinter vans (Not sure what a Sportsmobile looks like? Check out this one). As one of the most well-respected and longest running van conversion companies in the business, Sportsmobile vans are highly sought after. Moterra lets you try out pop-top and high roof Sprinters that have all been converted with custom features—each van comes with a sink, refrigerator, two-burner range, outdoor shower, toilet, and captain’s chairs.

Throw in amenities like kitchen and cooking supplies, bedding, and camp essentials like outdoor tables and chairs, and you’re ready to camp. You can pick up and rent vans from four different locations: Jackson Hole, Wyoming; San Francisco, California; Whitefish, Montana; and Salt Lake City, Utah. An extra perk of the San Francisco option is you can organize a road trip down the California coast and finish at the Sportsmobile West offices in Fresno, California.

Rentals start at $299 per night and you can choose which custom van you’d like to rent over here. While other sites like Outdoorsyoffer a ton of RV rental options, it’s fun to see a company like Moterra Campervans specialize in a specific brand of conversion van. For people thinking about buying their own dream Sportsmobile it’s a nice option to have.
