Our Impact

Here at Moterra, we give a damn. Moterra was founded upon the mission to provide the ultimate experience in wild places, which in return leaves people inspired to protect them. We feel that exploring the great outdoors is not only an opportunity to see the world but also an opportunity to better ourselves and the places we visit along the way.

FIGHTING CLIMATE CHANGE

Moterra exists to bring people closer to the landscapes we love. Drawing on inspiration from the National Park adage, “Take only photographs, leave only your footprints,” we are proud to offer an avenue for our clients to travel in a way that is environmentally responsible. To that end, it is our continued commitment to our clients and the wild spaces they have come to explore to offset the carbon emissions of every trip taken in a Moterra van.

Through a partnership with TreeEra, Moterra funds the planting of trees around the globe every month! Why does this matter? A single tree helps provide oxygen, reduce greenhouse gasses, and helps offset our carbon footprint for the year. To date, Moterra has funded the planting of 4,679 trees, offsetting 865,615 lbs of CO2.

Our commitment to sustainable energy is also reflected in the fact that all of our campervans are solar-powered, and we offer solar & gravity showers (with biodegradable soap) for Pop-Top renters. Our mileage limits are also designed to encourage renters to spend as much time as possible in the outdoors they came to explore.

REDUCING WASTE

You can count on our vans being stocked with almost all re-usable items. Single-use paper and plastic? No thanks! We’d rather spend an extra hour cleaning and sanitizing all the reusable kitchenware and equipment in your van, to ensure we’re not adding unnecessary trash to our planet.

We also make sure to recycle at all of our locations across the west. We can’t quite claim to be zero-waste, but we certainly can claim minimal waste while always improving! Have a suggestion for how we can reduce waste in the vans? Contact us here.

Traveling with Moterra?

We invite you to travel responsibly! Your campervan will be powered by the sun, however there are still things you can do to reduce your footprint on the road. A few things to consider packing with you for your vacation:

– A reusable water bottle.

– Reusable shopping bags.

– Biodegradable soap like this that works “all-in-one” as dish soap, body soap, shampoo, and so much more! (If you get a shower with your reservation, Dr Bronner will come included).

– Make sure you recycle with a separate box at your campground. You can find the closest recycling center to you with a quick search on Google Maps. Ensure you know each state’s recycling parameters before you throw just anything in there!
