Can I use the pop top during my winter trip?
Absolutely! If the pop top is FULLY cleared of snow it can be put up as normal. We’ve got you covered with an extendable ice scraper to get the job done!
Where do I store my skis and snowboards when parked at night?
Due to their sharp edges, and potential for damage, skis and other ski equipment are NOT allowed inside the vehicle. With the powder hound package, we provide a hitch mounted, locking ski rack that will keep your equipment safe throughout your trip.
Where can I camp in the winter?
Many ski resorts offer camping in their parking lots, meaning you will be first in line on the lifts! Or, you may opt to stay at a nearby campground, which often offer amenities such as hot showers, hot tubs, and laundry facilities. Check out our blog for a list of our recommended places to camp near ski resorts.
What is it like to drive a sprinter in the snow? Are all your vans 4x4?
Our fleet is the only rental fleet with 4X4 on all vehicles, offering extra stability on slippery roads. For additional peace of mind, we will provide cables that can be attached in the event of extreme snow or ice accumulation on the roads. Ultimately, it is the responsibility of the renter to determine the safety of the roads.
Will the water system work during my ski rental?
Good question! The short answer is no (but we’ve got a solution). These vans are not insulated in the same way your house might be and as a result, there are many potential freeze points in the water system which can lead to lasting damage. With this in mind, we winterize and deactivate the freshwater systems for any reservation that will be traveling through temperatures below 28° F. We will equip you with a refillable 5-gallon container, prefilled with potable water, which can be used for drinking and dishes instead.
How will I stay warm during my ski trip?
Our vans have an efficient thermostat controlled heater that pulls from the vans diesel engine. While its smart to come prepared for cold temperatures, these heaters keep the space warm and comfortable enough to quickly warm up after a day of skiing, while cooking dinner, or when your snuggled up in the plush bedding provided with your rental. In addition to the diesel heater, we will include a portable propane heater as a backup. For tips on what to pack and how to stay warm, check out our Winter Camping 101 blog.
As one of the proud sponsors of the Salomon Quality Ski Time Tour this year, we were thrilled to be part of their journey through the world of skiing. Although the film tour may have come to a close, the excitement and films live on! Click play on the photo to view the trailer.
Three of our favorite films are live on YouTube for your viewing pleasure. Blank Collective’s “Fortune Hunters” features Salomon’s full team ripping all over the world in classic ski-porn fashion. Cody Townsend’s latest film from The Fifty Project series, “The Polar Star” showcases an epic expedition that will inspire you to plan a trip somewhere faraway. And perhaps the most unique film from the tour, “Mountain State 2.0” features Josh Daiek’s multi-year effort chronicling his exploration of Nevada’s backcountry skiing.
