It may have come as a bit of a surprise when we announced our new location in Portland, ME, but we wanted to show off how un-surprising our arrival there is! Not only is Maine a sought-after vacation station, but it also possesses some incomparable man-made amenities like beer and lobster rolls!

We've done it before, and we'll do it again, but we put together a list of a few of our favorite things about Maine you might not have on your radar:

🌊Acadia's Coast:
This remarkable national park is home to as many individual species of wildlife as it is to breathtaking views. The coast is no different. Get on the road and check out the typical jaw-dropping vistas you can only find in this special place.

💡Cape Elizabeth lighthouse:
Also known as 'The Portland Headlight," this historic lighthouse has seen over 235 Springs, Summers, Autumns, and Winters. It encompasses a rich past and possesses a detailed history, which is well worth a visit to learn about.

⛰️Cadilac mountain:
Although Cadillac Mountain’s elevation is hardly notable when compared to other peaks in New England, the summit is the highest point along the Eastern Seaboard; and, between October and early March, the earliest sunrise in the continental United States can be seen from the mountain’s summit.

🏛️Abbe Museum:
The first and only Smithsonian affiliate in Maine, this informative and engaging museum of Wabanaki art, history, and culture. The aim for the establishment is to be inclusive, collaborative, and mindful of cultural history and works closely with Wabanaki people to share their stories, history, and culture with a broader audience.

🚗Loop Road:
Last but certainly not least, we can't forget to mention the captivating Loop Road in Maine. This 27-mile (43 km) road is the go-to scenic drive around the east side of Mount Desert Island, connecting Acadia's lakes, mountains, and shoreline. It provides access to popular areas such as Sieur de Monts, Sand Beach, Otter Point, Jordan Pond, and Cadillac Mountain.

Today is International Otter Day! 🦦 These fascinating creatures can be found in several river and ocean environments worldwide, including Monterey Bay, CA!

🔎 Want to see these adorable mammals up close? Monterey just so happens to be quite close to our California hub in San Francisco 🌆 and makes for a perfect destination for a quick weekender.

Within a couple of hours of picking up your van in SF, you can view these guys in their natural habitat while munching on some of the best oysters in the world and enjoying the classic California coast scenery.

🇺🇸 On this Memorial Day, we remember the brave men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the United States Armed Forces. We express our deepest gratitude to those who have served to protect our freedoms and our country.
