Included in your day-by-day itinerary:
Explore charming coastal towns like Rockport, Camden, and Bar Harbor, home to working harbors, fun boutiques, and perfectly prepared local cuisine (lobster galore!)
Hike some of the Acadia’s 130+ miles of well-maintained trails, stopping to pick wild blueberries, go for a swim, or soak in spectacular coastal vistas.
Visit historic lighthouses and spot local wildlife, including bald eagles, harbor seals, porpoises, and humpback whales.
Bike though Acadia’s extensive network of car-free carriage roads, connecting many of the park’s lakes, streams, and mountains.
Drive (or hike) to the summit of mighty Cadillac Mountain, the first place in the US to see the sunrise each morning.
Visit world-class museums like The Farnsworth Museum (Rockland), home to a large collection of Maine-inspired Wyeth work, and the Smithsonian affiliated Abbe Museum, highlighting the history of Maine’s native peoples.
2 nights
Pick up your van in Portland, grab a lobster roll in the city’s historic Old Port (complete with cobblestone streets), and then head north into Maine’s charming midcoast. Explore the beautiful Wolfe’s Neck Preserve, hike in Camden Hill State Park, and swim, paddle or sail through beautiful Penobscot Bay. Then, grab an ice-cream cone in picturesque Camden Harbor or visit the many museums of Rockland’s charming downtown.
3 nights
Roll down the windows as you drive across the bridge to spectacular Mount Desert Island, your home for the next few nights! Hike Acadia’s meticulously maintained trails to sweeping summit vistas, soak in the sun and surf at Sand Beach, and stroll the waterfront shore-path in bustling Bar Harbor. Then, pick up fresh steamers to cook over the campfire or swing into a local lobster pound for a classic Maine feast.
1 night
Round out your road trip with two nights based on the southernmost part of Mount Desert Island, fondly referred to as Acadia’s “quietside.” Explore quaint Southwest Harbor, nestled on the shores of Somes Sound, and spend peaceful days hiking and swimming in this decidedly less-touristy part of Mount Desert Island!
Our destination experts will work with you to personalize your trip with exciting activities, hosted by professional outfitters, and managed and booked by Moterra. Note: add-on activity fees are not included in the package itinerary fee.
